On the 24th of December, 2009, Magomed Rashidov was abducted from his home in Gubden, Dagestan, by a group of police officers who had visited the house with a search warrant a week earlier. During that search, the policemen looked around the house, asked the family where the light switch was located, ran a passport check and left. When they returned, the policemen went straight to Magomed's bedroom, dragged him into the street at gunpoint and drove him to an undisclosed location. The family filed an official complaint in accordance with Article 126 of the Russian Criminal Code, but the authorities denied any involvement in the abduction. Magomed remains missing.
